Ohmygoodness that looks so amazingly decadent. Do you have a recipe for the espresso icecream?

oooo truly decadent…. I am familiar with this kind of desserts, the last one I had before this newly diet approach I am in… I am curious on one thing though, what do you plate it? The thing on the photo looks like it is on a bench top or something? And is that ice cream? I always amazed of your plating, Y. Fantastic!

Oh YES! It is called the “weigh-in.” Ha ha ha πŸ™‚ But I would certainly accept any consequence when presented with something as beautiful as this!

Life isn’t worth living without chocolate cake. And espresso ice cream. I would never have thought to use lavender in fudge though – might have to try that…

    SUGAR FUDGE DUST !!!!!

i bet that had Tinkerbell known of it,
sugar fudge dust would have been her dust of choice.

what kind of truffles are those? or are they just nubbins of cake made to look like truffles? also, i at first thought this was plated on a slate tile or something, but a closer look leads me to believe you just “plated” on your countertop… am i right? if so, you are even more revolutionary than i thought, miss y. LOL. lovesit, as always. ^_^

Thanks for the comments! I think there were some questions in there that require answers..

Arundathi : Sorry, I don’t have a recipe for the espresso ice-cream. I didn’t make the one used in that dessert, but when I do make coffee flavoured ice-cream, I usually take a standard base ice-cream recipe, and infuse the milk with coffee beans and/or coffee essence, before proceeding as normal.

Arwen : Thanks! Made everything except the ice-cream, as mentioned above. Not blessed with a churner for home use, at the moment.

the projectivist : Maybe I should send you a sample bag. I’m up to my armpits (or rather, my fridge is.. if fridges ever had armpits) in the damn stuff. The first one is free πŸ˜‰

Indigo : Fudge dust = a happy accident which occured when I was making a batch of brown sugar fudge (I’m obsessed with making fudge at the moment, thanks to Lorraine). This one got overworked, so it turned into a sort of crumble that still dissolves like fudge in the mouth. Rather tasty!

arfi/kayce : Actually, the cake is on a tile leftover from when my mom renovated her kitchen. It’s a lovely blue-grey colour. Oh, and they’re chocolate fudge truffles. The whole thing is a play on eating a chocolate fudge cake, so I thought I’d include a truffle or two. They were leftovers from something else I made.

the projectivist : Fridge armpits are where all the mouldy stuff and dead herbs you didn’t realise you owned, hide.

On the plus side, if they have armpits, then they have arms, and I can just picture a giant Kelvinator with burly arms.

You got me at fridge armpits. Now I can’t help looking at my fridge at giggling at the image in my head. And to answer your question, I don’t believe life without cake is much of a life at all, especially for me.

Love this dessert, and don’t you just love how mistakes can lead you to an amazing outcome if you keep an open mind? Btw, my fridge is empty (hint, hint).
