An ode : Green tea and white chocolate cake, summer fruits, sesame nougatine

She is black. Pastel polka dots all over her body like a clown disguised as a leopard. Sweetness and joy, with a killer heel.

Every girl has her favourite pair of shoes. They are the ones that make her feel like a million dollars, whether she’s in jeans or a cocktail dress. The ones in which she clicks down the street proudly, feeling strong yet vulnerable. The ones that cost too many clams to obtain, but which have paid back in emotional dividends too complicated to calculate.

Yes, every girl has her favourite pair of shoes. This is an ode to mine.

It definitely reminds me of those wooden Japanese dolls that you buy from Japan! She even has a hat!

I have favorite shoes (never thought of creating a dessert around them though), but never get to wear them. Silly job requiring me to wear steel-toe shoes 😛

I have a favorite pair of shoes too, but they are ratty and full of sentimental value– and all the way back in Manila 🙁 I love the dessert– so elegant– and the plate or surface that it’s on!

The colors on this are so pretty. Looks like something I’d hang on a wall, work of art for sure! Oh, I have plenty of shoes…sometimes I can’t decide which are my fav…I’ve always been such a klutz in heels :D.

That’s a gorgeous dessert. I think I’d rather have cake than shoes anyday. They must be inspirational shoes though.

Thanks to everyone for the comments!

the projectivist : shoe as food 😀

Lorraine : Oh, I never thought of it that way, but I can sort of see it now!

Caitlin : I wear the most ugly but safe and relatively comfortable shoes for work too!

Kayce : As per request, picture of said shoe now included in post. I didn’t post it before, because I thought it might be one photo too many, but now that I think of it, the dessert doesn’t make as much sense if you don’t know what the shoe looks like.

grace : Thank you! I wanted to be back sooner, with a cinnamon creation for you, but it was not to be!

Manggy : For your favourite pair of shoes, you could probably bake a loaf of bread. Loafer bread… ? 😛

Sophie : I am too! But with these shoes, I feel I can do anything. Climb any mountain. Dash across any pedestrian crossing…

Marija : It’s actually a large tile I bought from a very bemused tile-shop owner (I had to explain why I only wanted to buy one tile). I chose black because it’s meant to resemble the shoe.

Arwen : I bought them quite a few years ago, and still love them to bits. Would wear them to bed if I could.

that looks cool 😛 i went to sparkle the cupcake shop around the corner from work last week and ordered one of every single cupcake that they had in store. there were four of us and we started off with half a cupcake each and by the end we were peeling off tiny slivers of the remaining cupcakes with a paring knife to taste. one of them was green tea with tapioca and lime frosting which made mat gag hahaha. it was really reaaaally weird..

I just love the idea with black seesame seeds. 🙂 Love the green tea color also! We have a sofa that is exactly of that color, hence the fondness.
